When I first moved to Louisville, I just fell in love with these painted horses. Almost 5 months later, I still discover new ones and fall in love again. Local artists decorate these horses and auction them off for charity. Every horse is so unique and perfectly suited for it's location. For example, the bourbon bottle horse is in front of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. If in Louisville, make sure you stop and appreciate the horses because they are truly beautiful. (This is a sappy post because I am really starting to love it here!)
A Quote Chalkboard
One of the quickest ways to customize your dorm and make it feel like home is to add art and things you love. As someone who lives by quotes, I had to post my favorite quotes on the walls. These little canvases cost about $15 and took about an hour to make. Here's what to do:
1. Buy canvas ( I got mine on sale at A.C. Moore) and sticky letters. I usually just buy what is on sale that week but the glitter letters were worth the extra few dollars.
2. Count out how many of each letter you need and layout the quotes on plain paper. I wanted the words on the Be Silly canvas to be the same color so I sorted through all of the letters given and opened a new pack to get what I wanted.
3. Hot glue the letters to the canvas, one by one after peeling off the backs for extra sticking power. I find that this allowed me to adjust the letters easily while they were hot.
4. Let dry for 24 hours and hang up! I used Command Picture Hanging Strips - two per a canvas.
The T in the picture above was super simple to make. I bought a wooden letter T and some sticky glitter foam. I stuck the glitter foam to the T and then used a box cutter to cut the excess from the edge. Be careful not to cut yourself!
