2018 Intentions

2018 Intentions

Last year, I did not write a resolution list on paper or on the blog. While I love to make lists of things that I would like to do (101 in 1001), I wanted to make a list of intentions this year instead of resolutions. One of my favorite health bloggers (Lee from America) inspired me from her monthly intention list but for me, the year will be full of change and I want to intend to do something though the whole year of 2018.

1. Eat more vegetables, eat less red meat and pork, eat more local foods, and eat only when hungry!

Eating has been something that I can struggle with - sometimes I am mindlessly noshing while working or some days I drink coffee all day and don't eat until dinner. I want to be more intentional with my eating habits in 2018 and learn to intuitively eat for what my body needs. I have noticed my body feels a lot better when I eat less red meat or pork and less dairy - so my goal is to eat it when I feel that I need it but stick to plants most of the time. But if there is a day that I really am craving red meat, I need to figure out what that means in my body and eat it without any guilt.

2. Stress relieve once a day: yoga, meditation, walking, kick-boxing, working out, talk to a loved one.

Life as a quality engineer can be stressful and lead to long hours at work so making sure to relieve that is so key to a happy life. I try to yoga at least 3 times a week but I want to make it a priority to give my soul what it needs by releasing stress in a healthy way regularly.

3. Make conscious choices in life in regards to the environment and people around me.

I am such a believer in sustainable living. I started with trying to buy local produce that is organic or skincare products that are relatively chemical free, and only to use inert materials like glass/cast iron/ceramic for my food. My challenge for the next year is transportation and clothing. For me, a commute to work is necessary but reducing my footprint when not going to/from work is my goal. Can I walk or take a bike to the grocery store or to a friend's house? If the answer is less than 30 minute walk, then I am in! In regards to clothing, trying not to consume fast fashion is my other goal.  I do like to buy vintage or the idea of making my own so this one might be easier.
