A Weekend to Start the Summer

I had so much fun this weekend. I can't believe I'm so lucky with my internship and great new friends.
Friday night I spent the afternoon and early evening at Relay for Life. I got to know LOT, my fellow intern this summer. I already love her because she's so sweet and so funny! One of our coworkers is a cancer survivor and it was great to cheer her on during the survivors' lap.
On Saturday, I ventured into Boston for the Boston Public Library Sale. It was a blast! I got a book on accounting for non accountants, a geek goddess book and a diet recipe book. I also got a little matching gift for me and my momma. Her birthday is in August after I go back to school so I try to buy little things to make her gift before I leave to go back to State. I spent the afternoon reading and enjoying the garden. (With iced coffee, of course) The statue fountain and the architecture of the building are captivating. I could not stop smiling at how pretty it was.
After a chill afternoon, I walked around Newbury St and browsed lots of shops. I tried on some things and got a little salsa bowl an Anthropologie. I also got a Salted Caramel cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake.  After walking a ton, I headed home to read some more and eat a big dinner. I slept like a baby after all that walking.

On Sunday, LOT and I went to the New England Aquarium to celebrate Worlds Oceans Day. The walk from South Station was filled with so many gems.

There were a ton of stations that LOT and I had a blast at the celebration. I learned all about sea kelp, ate mussels by a great chef and learned about the Boston Harbor Islands. I got a ton of ideas for things to do this summer and really enjoyed the staff at the aquarium. They are seriously undercover rockstars.

We roamed around taking in the beauty of the North End. The Polar truck was there and handing out samples.  There were a ton of tiny gardens and flowers. It was too gorgeous. We also did some shopping... Don't leave two 5'10" girls together. Bad things happen to our bank accounts when we are together. I got a scarf and some Chipyard cookies...SO GOOD.  The oatmeal raisin chocolate chip is to die for. I would eat it everyday if I could.

We wandered around some more in the Financial District and found the Post Office Square. It was a fun place with lots of benches and people watching. I saw a gay couple taking wedding photos, kids playing in the fountain and cute dogs. I kinda love it there. Then we got some Chipotle (Try the new Sofrito. I highly recommend!) I headed home, did laundry and relaxed before work on Monday.

This weekend was exactly what I needed. Work last week was wild and a relaxing weekend full of me time and friend time was perfect.
