This past weekend, I took a quick weekend trip up to Chicago with my best friend and it was magical! After a long late Megabus ride, we got to the hotel, quickly changed and headed out on the town!
Our first stop was RM Champagne Salon, where we got drinks and waited for a table. Once we got our table, the fun began!
We ordered the mussels and the mushroom pizza. Both were divine and I highly recommend.
We went to a couple of bars, met a bunch of interesting people, and headed to bed.
We woke up early to get to Millennium Park - isn't the walkway gorgeous?
We saw the Bean and I really want to book an architecture tour if we go again!
After that, we headed to the Art Institute of Chicago, which blew my mind away.
They had a whole exhibit on Degas and a ton of Monet as well as a Seurat.
After a good time at the museum, we headed to Navy Pier.
I had my first deep dish pizza (I'm hooked!) and got some Garrett's Popcorn to go.
The view from there was just wow.
We headed back to the hotel, took a quick nap and got ready for Wine Riot,
the main reason we came to Chicago.
We went to Salero for dinner - get the burrata for an appetizer and I got Confit Potatoes a la plancha.
The sauces underneath this mess made the dish basically to die for - salty, herby, smoky - yum!
Then we got to Wine Riot Chicago and had a blast!
It's a wine tasting with wine from every country and region.
It helps you to learn how to distinguish wines but build your palette.
My favorite wine brand of the night was the Pop Crush Pinot Grigio - not too expensive and sweet enough to make you happy but drier than I usually go for!
As always, I had a blast with my bestie and I cannot wait to go back to Chicago sometime soon - maybe February?
