Being gracious is a thing that I feel like our generation does not do the best. A lot of the time, people try to be but it's not sincere or something done for convention and not for itself. I always try to be kind to people. Sometimes, they do not deserve it and that sucks. In the end, those experiences make you a better judge of character and a better person. The biggest test of kindness for me is when someone is mad at you about something. It can be very hard to just respond to hateful comments with kind words, patient eyes and a pleasant smile. When done correctly, I find that they either get madder and walk away or the person will apologize for reacting in an explosive manner. This article from Psychology Now explains what graciousness means today.
