In the past two months, I've slowly but surely been crossing things off my 101 in 1001 list. With a year of the 2.75 down, I have crossed off 36 things or about a third of the list! I cannot wait to share what I have been up to below as learning is the greatest thing for the soul.
I have been slowly framing all of the postcards I have collected, maps I've saved and odd things from my travels. It is finally come together and while I love what I have up, I cannot wait to keep growing this montage of my past on the wall. I sometimes forget all of the the interesting things that I've gotten to do so far in my life and it makes me so grateful when I see all of these items on my wall each day when I come home from work.

I recently got into the habit of buying some flowers for my "coffee" table or my bedroom and I love how festive it makes the apartment feel. When I see the orange gerber daisies I got last week, it instantly puts a smile on my face and that makes the cost of them worthwhile for me.

I have been working out a lot recently with a fitness groupon that I love. I pretty much always keep a workout set of clothing in the car but I found that my favorite sports bra I own is an old one from Old Navy. What I love about it is that it hooks like a normal bra in the back but really supports you in intense movements or during a gentle yoga class. This one linked is pretty similar.

I never thought that I would actually go skydiving but my coworker J invited me to go as that is his hobby. I was a little nervous but with some reassurance from other coworkers that had already went, I drove to the site and did the darn thing. I was really calm the whole plane ride up (thank you yoga breathing!) but got super nervous when I put my feet on the strut of the plane to jump. My tandem instructor just pushed me after the count of three and we went flying! It was such a rush! It was super cold in March to go but honestly, it was one of my top 5 things I have ever done in my life. I am totally going again when it is warm!!

I wanted to do something low-key for my birthday because I went skydiving earlier in the month. In every city I lived in America, Sur La Table has a knife skills class. I never took it because it didn't fit with my schedule. This year, it just so happened that it fell on my actual birthday! I booked the class immediately and went to learn more about cutting my food and why technique is so important. Chef Michael taught me that my current knife skills leave a lot to be desired but my main takeaways were not to be afraid of the knife, curl your fingertips underneath your hand to keep them safe, and trust your cutting instincts to increase your speed. I already signed up for two more classes at the store - Cast Iron Cooking and Homemade Gluten Free Pasta. I am so excited!

I saw a flier for this class at the museum during the monthly yoga class and I figured it would be an interesting way to learn how to cook something new. The Spring Cooking Class at the museum was more of an instructional class than a hands on class but I loved it anyway! Chef Zack, the executive chef of the museum, made us a full spring dinner party menu complete from appetizer to dessert. Compound pea butter on crostini with cardamom, watermelon radish and spring veggie salad, lamb with salsa verde and a berry poke cake rounded out the menu. It was all delicious and I cannot wait to make this for my friends and family. They will have another one in the fall so be on the lookout!

I would preface this post with the fact that I am usually not a sneakers person. I have very flat feet and so a lot of sneakers are not comfortable for me at all. I tend to wear Keds or Converse sneakers when I do wear sneakers because they are pretty flat on the inside of the shoe. I saw Allbirds on a couple of environmental/social conscious forums but I forgot about them until my new friend CP reminded me.


As I am in SF for a couple of weeks, I went to the concept store and fell in love. First of all, they have a gorgeous little concept store in a hipster alley in SF. It's light, airy and it displays the shoes in a fun way. You see all the models and colors available on these neat bookshelves. Someone at the store will bring you different sizes - in my case, I wear a women's 11 so I tried on men size 9 and 10 shoes. The men's size 10 was more comfortable for me. I tried on the gray and the black but decided ultimately on the black because they look a little more formal - I can wear them to work or for play.

I ordered them online as they did not have them in-store and they came in a neat box that uses less packaging. I am in love with them!  You do not need to wear socks with them as the merino wool allows your feet to breathe. They feel like wearing socks and stepping on clouds. I walked up and down Nob Hill, all around the Financial District and went to a networking event in them without any pain or discomfort. I also wore them for a hike in Eastern CA that was relatively easy and they performed awesome! I highly recommend these sneakers to women on the go and travelers.

Wild Eggs specializes in sort of really good breakfast classics as well as a ton of Mexican inspired dishes. In most cases, I go super decadent for breakfast so I usually get Eggs Benedict - I've tried both the Lox and the Vegetarian one - as well as the pancakes or waffles. Everything is fresh, flavorful and a play on a classic dish that you have loved for years.

I would honestly say that it is a great place to go out with family, hungover friends or maybe even a significant other. The only thing that I would tell you - a tip that I have learned the past few visits - go there early before church on Sundays or during the week if you want a short wait time. Otherwise, be prepared to wait 30 minutes to an hour for a table at the Herr Lane location. Happy breakfasting!

Something about all this cold weather has got me in a style rut. I have tried and tried to make fun outfits but sweaters and jeans with tights underneath can only be so fun. Enter the J. Crew Pixie Pants. I have these pants with the snap front and zip pockets in both black and navy. I just recently treated myself to the normal kind which I bought on EBay for a steal - like 65% off the price on the J. Crew website and they had never been worn with tags! I love Pixie Pants for so many reasons but there are three main reasons I think every girl should have a pair (or two) of these awesome pants. (Mom and Jordan- these might be your birthday present besides other things - they are that great!)

1.  They basically suck all of you in with the elastic top and back zipper. As you zip yourself in, you can just feel yourself looking skinnier. I really like that the top is elastic, too. It reminds me that I have to wear longer shirts with this pants because they are like leggings.

2. I really like the length - I have the tall length pants but I could even go with the regular - they are that long. When you first get them, they are almost too long but after a spin in the dryer when you wash them - they are the perfect length. They scrunch up when they hit me right where my ankle meets my foot and you can tuck the bottoms up for a shorter more ankle pants look!

3. These pants make me feel fancy. The material is stretchy, soft and smooth. They look like really nice pants but look like leggings. I wore them to the bar the other night and got no less than 5 or 6 compliments because they are dressy but in an understated way.

I read about Pixie Pants for a while on various blogs but I honestly thought they were too expensive for leggings but now owning some - I totally agree that the price is worth the quality of the pants and the comfort you get when you zip yourself in but look like a million bucks.

In the same vein as my post on Monday, I am really into my health as a college age girl. I like the size that I wear currently and really try to make sure that I am doing my body right with what I eat and how I treat it. This Christmas, I asked for a Fitbit Flex and I am obsessed.

For those who do not know what a Fitbit Flex is, it is basically a pedometer that can track your steps for the day, distance, sleep and activity. It's awesome! I have mine hooked into MyFitnessPal and it really is doing wonders for me to be more cognizant of what I am eating, doing and my sleep patterns.

It costs about $100 and it comes with two bands in the same color- a small band and a large band. I use the small band because I like that it has very little overlap on my wrist. Most of the women I know use the small band. I have the original band my Fitbit came with - slate as well as the classic pack (as seen above - royal blue, red and the other one is navy.)

Using the Fitbit is simple. You charge it up, sync it to the app and get to stepping! I use mine to track three main things for the day - my calories burned, miles walked and steps for the day. I have a goal of 5 miles to be walked, 12,000 steps and at least 2000 calories burned a day. I usually hit it but that is due to walking a lot as school.


For example, this past week, I hit all my goals on Wednesday. I really love my Fitbit because it allows me to take a more active role in my fitness. I track what I eat through MyFitnessPal and then using this, I can track my daily walking that is converted into calories. I have a very accurate view of how much I am taking in vs. putting out. It also challenges me in my daily life to do more. To make sure I hit my step goal, I tend to take more stairs or go to bars with more dancing to burn off all that excess calories a girl can get from drinking sugary drinks. It's a great present for any college age girl or for anyone who likes to challenge themselves to keep fit or at least know what is going on in their body!

P.S. This is my mom's outfit snippet from the other day. I get some seriously good style genes from her. I also got my crazy bargain hunting side from her too - sale is the place to be unless you got a coupon in our family.

Posts have been sparse and I apologize for that. I literally worked 10-12 hour days during my internship, went to sleep and woke up to do it again. Then I had a week to sort out my life before I had to go back to school and had a crazy weekend before I could start class. Finally, I am done with my internship and move-in and I have so much to share.

The weekend before my last week of work, I had a ton of fun. I really just tried to eat and do everything that is my favorite in Boston! Saturday, I spent the day in Boston Common, eating Sweetgreen and finishing up The Power of Habit. It was such a peaceful day.
