I've gotten some emails and so I wanted to address this in a post for anyone interested. Recently, I haven't posted too much and I have plans to work on so much new content that heads will be spinning... I just started my job and even though is super interesting, I pass out super early to be up at 5-5:30 am. I am slowly getting adjusted but it is a lot! Working and learning and filling out everything to get access to everything I need. As I get my balance right, please forgive my lack of posts. I promise it will be worth it!

2014 was awesome and as I said I learned a ton! I put together this little video to share with you all and I am so excited to share it today!

2014 was full of fun, family and friends. I can't wait to see what 2015 has in store for me 💃

I also wanted to say that I have two main personal goals besides my 101 in 1001 list. I try to keep things super light and fun but I wanted to get a little personal this week with my goals for the year. Everything you set as a goal comes from a place of love for yourself or hope to make yourself better and I think that is awesome and personal and shouldn't be mocked (saw some crazy nonsense on Facebook this morning and felt I needed to say something!)

My first goal is to be happy. I want to find that inner peace and happiness that I found in summer of 2014 from yoga and actually sleeping (!!!) and take that everywhere with me in my heart. Be that kind of happy that makes you smile when you wake up and excited to take on a day. I want to learn to see more positive outcomes that ever before because this world is harsh and you need to smile or you will cry. Lastly, I want to see more happiness in the people around me and foster that in their lives as much as possible. I have people in my life who are awesome and I am so lucky and I want them to be as happy as they can be even when I don't agree with their choices 110%.

My second goal is to be more friendly. I am a pretty friendly person once I break the ice with pretty much anyone but I don't always extend my hand first unless it is a professional situation. I really want to work on diversifying my friend portfolio. Basically, more people who like what I like - yoga, museums, traveling and good food. People to help expand my horizons - speaking different languages, getting over my fear of heights and things like that! I also want to help broaden their horizons as well - I'm an expert on whipping up a quick meal, baking a cake or laundry (thanks dad). I also want to keep my good friends from over the years. I cherish their wisdom and love.

Let's make 2015 rock, people.

When it comes down to it in life, I just want to be happy. I want to be loyal in the relationships I've made. I want to support everyone I love as much as I can. I want to eat healthy good food and enjoy good wine. I want to brunch on Sundays, wander through museums during the week and learn as much as I can. I want to read books in the park and watch plays at night. I want to keep fresh flowers in my home and get a puppy - something medium sized and sassy. I really want a fufilling job and a good group of friends wherever I end up after graduation.

These are all things that I want. It's important to want good things for yourself. It's only bad if you aren't content with what you have. I'm content with my life now as a college student. I work a lot, both for my jobs and my organization. I have hilarious friends and great meals at home. I have a lot of fun dressing up for events and learning how to do my makeup (I'm actually terrible at it). I did not have to go through the struggles my parents went through (thank you mom and dad). I'm pretty good at cooking, sewing and understanding science articles. I am content in my rate of growth as a person.

This post is sort of a grateful after speaking to a friend ramble but I have a point. In life, we will always want. That is in the nature of humans. The most important thing to remember about wanting is that you need to be content with what you have before you want. If you aren't content, your want becomes greedy and that's really dangerous.

After a crazy month of March that had a breakup, a spring break like no other, a national conference (post coming soon as I can get all my pictures uploaded), a billion tests and a huge huge huge database project, I finally can breathe easy again. I try not to bring my personal life into this space but blogging about that experience helped me to see what I was blinded by. After that, I've been on a rampage to improve myself but also really focus on what is important to me in life. Sometimes, we as people can be so clouded by the people and environment around us that we forget who we are and what we are stand for in life. I took a lot of time during March to think and figured out what I need from the universe, friends & family, and myself.
I want to share those realizations with you so I can keep my self accountable to the promises and beliefs that I have.

From the universe:

• I need more positive role models in my life like Sossena Wood. I need to see that people like me can prosper in my chosen field and really impact the world. Black women engineers are the future and I want more of them to be visible to the world.I also need to reach out and find more mentors doing what I love and what really interests me. 
• I need people to stop thinking so negatively and trying to be catty to each other. It's hurtful and polluting and disgusting. You would be surprised what can happen when we are all honest and positive. The brain power that is harvested is magnificent.
• I need more nature and beauty in my life. Walking through a rainy forest or a snow covered path gives so much clarity to my mind. I also love fresh flowers in my room and fresh fruits on my table. Whatever beauty there is to see, taste, touch, hear, and smell, I need it in my life. STAT. 

When I was little, the phrase "March goes in like a lion and out like lamb" always made me laugh. Thinking about my life right now, it's the most relevant phrase. March is going in like a lion for me. This weekend, I split from the guy I've been seeing for over a year now. February was a very emotionally exhaustive month for me and him.  After being upset for a little while, I realized that this was for the best for us both.

I have such a busy March ahead of me that I know my mind will be off it this whole fiasco. It's a little weird seeing his friends without him and not talking to him but I feel great right now. This emotional burden that kept manifesting all the time has finally been lifted. Instead of fighting, I have peace. That is possibly the greatest gift he gave me. I tend to be an optimistic person and that is really helping me through everything. Things will always get better, if you will them to and if you believe in the great things that are coming your way. March will end like a glorious little lamb because I will be turning 21, going to Nashville and running for positions that I have been dreaming about all year long!

This year has been a whirlwind adventure for me. I've learned so much from people, experiences and school. I can't even begin to say how much has happened to me a person, so I'm breaking it down into sections of my life.

These are my 101 things to do. I'm really excited to try and cross some of the things off my list. I've already told some people about it and they want to help me get through this list! Starting January 1st, it's on!

I have not blogged in so long. Something so therapeutic to me has been put on the backburner by projects and all sorts of silliness. There's never an excuse to not do something you love, so I am gonna make this more of a priority to me. So many beautiful things happen every day and I want to share them, even if it annoys the people I love. Here, in my corner of the internet, I can share as much as a I want.  So Blogging, here I am, back to get my creative juices flowing and allow my creativity to be expressed in another way than the title page of a report.
