I love reading other people's blogs. Before I started my own, I had been reading Mackenzie Horan's blog for a while and loved it. I love her sense of humor and her sense of style and the fact that she owns her own business. (go ahead girl!) She even inspired me to make my 101 in 1001 list! I really take inspiration from the way she dresses because a) its classic b) it always matches and c) she buys good quality items and rewears them all the time and d) she is a J. Crew and Old Navy lover just like me and e) #navyornothing! Here are some of my favorite outfits from her that give me inspiration for my daily style endeavors.
After work today, Lili and I went to Ikea to look at things for my apartment. I wanted cute functional bookshelves and nightstands if my mom cannot find me free ones for my apartment this year. I like how Ikea sets up their stores with little model rooms because this really let us see what we would need to buy or how we could use things. We walked through a ton of rooms that were not really my style but cool none the less. I fell in love with this blue cart for my room and I will purchase it if my mom does not find me a bookcase to put my things in. Isn't the color divine?! It also rolls and I love the baskets as storage on the storage rack.
Another thing I wanted was wall art for my side of the room. I made a couple little things but I want a big piece to hang above my bed. I really like a lot of the paintings and little things that they have at Ikea. I got a lot of inspiration from the storeroom and tried to snap pictures of what was really adorable. I think I can make something similar for my room. I really like the flowers in the this canvas print but I would do something with open tulips or hydrangea. I also love the idea of a little greenhouse for fresh herbs in the kitchen. I really like fresh basil and thyme for my food.
I am a huge goofball when I go to department stores and had too much fun in the kids section. There was so much stuff for kids that I would get. Little dog lunch boxes and cute little lamps caught my eye. Outfitting any kid with a ton of toys on the cheap is gonna be easy now. I can go to Ikea and grab some really cute dolls and stuffed animals. I loved this little stuffed African American baby. I almost bought it!
After we bought everything that was cheap or under a dollar, we had dinner at Ikea. I tried the salmon lasagna. IT WAS BOMB. I would make something similar at home during the school year. Because Lili and I signed up for the Ikea Family Card we got free tea or coffee with our dinner. We also got some percent off of the items we bought which was awesome! I got a bunch of cute things for our apartment including salt and pepper shakers, some guest bathroom napkins and a nice clear bin to keep my dry food under by bed safe from bugs. We ended our trip with some frozen yogurt and getting lost trying to get out of the parking lot.
Overall, I missed going to Ikea and it really like looking at home stuff there. It makes me get creative with what I have to make something really cool in my own spaces.

Style Influence: Mixing it Up
I cannot wait for spring to arrive in late March. I love wearing skirts and flats with fun accessories in the spring because we can't do that here in the State College cold. I also miss having my legs out and getting some sun. It has snowed every week since I have gotten back at school. I can't take it anymore! We did have a nice reprieve last week into this weekend but it is projected to snow three times this week :[ It snowed last night! In my head, I dream of spring weather and came up with this little outfit. Vibrant spring colors and classic pieces make something I can wear anywhere during the spring. I just have to hold out a little longer for some warmer weather!

Next year, my apartment is unfurnished. My mom and I have found some free furniture (broke college student over here) but I want to make the shared space my own. I really love neutrals with pops of color. I'm stuck between pink and teal for my room accent color. Since pink is my favorite color, I've been looking into how I can incorporate it without being too girly or too childish. I got a little inspiration of Tumblr and wanted to share!

Interior Design: Pops of Pink
It's no secret to anyone that knows me well that I love Starbucks. I usually go at least 4 times a week to finals week madness when I go multiple times a day. Today, when I went to the Starbucks in downtown State College, everything in the store was pink for their new line of bakery treats by La Boulange ! I snapped a couple pics because I had to get back to studying but look how adorable!

This newly discovered bird species has scientist eager to study it. I loved the subtle coloring of the bird and how it really is like nothing I've ever seen before.
The coloring of the bird lends itself to interesting outfits. Hope this inspires your week!

From this picture, I find some really cool color combinations, especially the orange and the purple. I based both of the outfits of these colors because they work really well together. The formal outfit is cute for a night on the town or something fun with your girlfriends. The casual outfit is more for a brunch with your friends or something I would wear to class or work.
Hope you enjoy!
